“Yeah, society is kinda messed up, wonder why that is?”
It’s because all of our thoughts, feelings and emotions come from a place within us. Of those thoughts, feelings and emotions, not all, but many we don’t understand too well. It’s energy created in the birthplace of our mind (the unconscious) that gets put in place (integrated into consciousness) but is replaced, misplaced and becomes difficult to deal with due to a lack of understanding our own unconscious mind. This process of dealing with these things is why we have positive and negative coping mechanisms and which ones you use stem from another wide variety of complex factors of internal and external sources. Can’t get into that here, but hope to in the future.
So what if all the positive and all of the negative emotions we experience start on the inside in the unconscious mind, but how they are introduced into our conscious rational mind is through the filter of our ego. So there is already something inside of us that is predetermining how we are going to feel about something before it even happens but it’s ready for us to experiment and experience life so that those parts of our mind we hardly have control over can start to project our internal pre-structured and unconscious beliefs onto other people based on how our perceptive mental reaction of another’s external actions gets processed through the filter of the ego.
In other words, how we feel about someone else is probably how we actually feel about ourselves in one way or another. When we find qualities in other people that we like or dislike, those qualities are either within us already or have been recognized as something we’d like to make part of ourselves, or the opposite. So instead of projecting all of our own evils onto other people when they do something we don’t like, we should stop and ask ourselves, what is it about that person’s behavior that strikes a chord within me, and how can I recognize that quality or trait within myself? Once you start thinking inside instead of outside you can start to build a better picture of who you are what you might look like as a Whole person.
[disclaimer: don’t spend all your time inside otherwise you may inadvertently lose yourself even more. something else I’d like to get into down the line]
One Last Side Note: How we feel about things are projections of our own self, not necessarily just emotional reactions to external forces stemming all from external sources. Alas thoughts, feelings, emotions both ARE and ARE NOT born out of chaos. Do you know the difference?
