A warm feeling might enter your heart upon seeing another smile in solitude.
Have you ever smiled to yourself while alone? What makes you smile when no one is watching? I think that's something we should pay particular attention to. Those little thoughts that make us grin when no one is wathcing can help inform us of what really matters to us in life and might provide some meaning at the end of the day. Now imagine you're secretly spying on someone and you see them smile to themselves. If you have any bit of empathy then it might make you smile too. Two different experiences happening at the same time. One person smiling because something they thought of or saw in a moment brought so much joy that they couldn't help but smile, and another smirk brought onto the observer for the subtle enjoyment of seeing someone be happy. Maybe it's beautiful because happiness is a fleeting feeling but it comes and goes all of the time. Yet, how often do we focus on the things that make us happy and thought, "what if I was more driven to chase experiences that brought forth genuine, true joy and peace in an unexpected moment. Then maybe my life would have more meaning. I'm not talking about chasing instant gratification and chasing things that won't serve a positive long-term purpose, I mean for us to think about what makes us smile when no one is watching and maybe it might teach us something. It certainly relates to stopping and smelling roses every once and awhile, that is for damn sure. So next time you find yourself just smirking over something seemingly silly, ask yourself what it is about it that makes you feel that way. (:
